PAYS HOMAGE TO MAJOR BHUPINDER SINGH ON HIS MARTYRDOM DAY

Ludhiana, September 19 (CHARHAT PUNJAB DI) : Senior Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister Lieutenant General (Retd.) TS Shergill today said that the state government’s ‘Guardians of Governance’ scheme would bring transparency in the functioning of the government and ensure implementation of the schemes of the government effectively.Lieutenant Shergill, who was here to attend a function to mark the martyrdom of Major Bhupinder Singh here at Bharat Nagar Chowk, said that around 13000 ex-servicemen from across the state would been trusted with this work to ensure effective implementation of the state government policies. He said that state government was taking several initiatives to ensure the well being of very strata of society adding that even the regular and effective monitoring of the government schemes was must for which ‘Guardians of Governance’ would play an instrumental role. He said that process for enrolling around 13000 ex-servicemen has already been started and in the first phase this scheme would be implemented in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran and Barnala.

 

Lieutenant Shergill said that these guardians would act as eyes, ears and brain of the state government.  He said that these guardians would be equipped with smart phones from where they would submit regular report regarding the projects to the state government from every village, ward, town and city of the state. He said that action on the report sent by these guardians would be taken as the stipulated norms.

Earlier paying floral tributes to Major Bhupinder Singh, the senior Advisor of Chief Minister recalled the gallantry deeds of the martyrs. He said that it was the need of the hour to organize such events so as to keep our younger generations abreast about the heroic deeds of such martyrs.

In his address, Lok Sabha MP from Ludhiana Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu thanked the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for giving due recognition and honor to the ex-servicemen by appointing Lieutenant Shergill as his Senior Advisor. He also announced that he would provide the requisite funds for the proper upkeep of this memorial.

MLA Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Mr. Surinder Dawar and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Pradeep Aggarwal were also present on the occasion.
