(Says first time in history of State that a govt has defaulted on disbursing salaries)
(SAD conference passes resolution moved by Maheshinder Singh Grewal demanding reopening of Katia Darnand case)
Chapaar, September 5 ( SAT PAL SONI ): Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked the Congress government to stop enacting dramas like fake job fairs while asserting it distributed 300 job letters following culmination of the so called Rozgar Mela in which four lakh youth had registered for jobs.
Stating that the Punjab government had appropriated the routine placement drive organised annually by technical colleges since more than a decade, the SAD president said it had failed to even deliver on this front. “The government sponsored job fairs were a flop because it failed to create norms for recruiting technically qualified students. Students who had been promised jobs through these fairs feel cheated and betrayed”, he added.
Speaking that the government had failed on all fronts, Mr Badal said it was for the first time in the history of the State that any government had defaulted on disbursing salaries to its employees. He said even as employees were not being paid, every section of society was paying the brunt of Congress governance failure. He said all facilities be it old age pension, scholarship to Dalit students, cycles to girls or even medical insurance to farmers had been withdrawn. “Even development works have been put on halt. The government has recalled grants given to villages. Sewerage work in several towns has been halted. Even ongoing road work has been stopped. Such a paralysis in governance has never occurred in the State earlier”, he added.
While talking to newsmen later the SAD president gave a call for reopening investigation against Congress Khanna mla Gurkirat Singh Kotli. Earlier at the party’s political conference former minister and core committee member Maheshinder Singh Grewal moved a resolution to this effect which was passed unanimously. Mr Grewal highlighted that French national Katia Darnand, who had accused Gurkirat Kotli of molesting her, had not been able to record her statement in court of law due to various kinds of pressures. He said there was provision in law to get this done even now and that the case should be reopened to ensure justice to the foreign national.
Earlier senior leader Bikram Majithia while speaking on the occasion, said it was unfortunate that both Manpreet Badal and Navjot Sidhu were befooling Punjabis. He asked Manpreet Badal to explain if he was wilfully cheating people by promising them a Rs 90,000 crore loan waiver when he had no intention of keeping his promise. He said similarly Navjot Sidhu was resorting to a new drama every day even as he failed to make any contribution to the State.
The SAD leadership also congratulated former Qila Raipur legislator Manpreet Singh Ayali for the welfare activities conducted by him, including creation of sports and recreation infrastructure in his constituency. Others who spoke on the occasion included senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia, former Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Ranjit Singh Talwandi besides others.
